About
Most affordable dress watches borrow their movements from a supplier catalogue. The Bambino Version 2 does not.
The caliber F6724 is Orient's own, developed as the successor to the long-running 487-series movement that powered the original Bambino line. It winds automatically from wrist motion, accepts hand-winding when the watch has sat unworn, and includes a hacking function that stops the seconds hand the moment the crown is pulled, so setting the time against a reference is a matter of seconds rather than guesswork. The power reserve sits at 40 hours, meaning a watch left on the nightstand Friday evening will still be running Saturday morning. That combination of features, all built and regulated in-house, is genuinely uncommon at this price tier.
The case measures 40.5mm in stainless steel and sits beneath a domed mineral crystal. The dome does something specific: it bends reflected light away from the line of sight, which keeps the champagne dial readable at the oblique angles a wrist actually presents. Roman numeral hour markers and a date display sit on that dial, and the brown leather strap with buckle closes at a 21mm lug width. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres. The Bambino Version 2 is a mechanical dress watch with an in-house movement, and the case for buying it rests entirely on those facts.
