That something is caliber 6R51, a 24-jewel automatic movement with manual winding and a stop-seconds hand. The stop-seconds function halts the balance wheel the moment the crown is pulled, so the seconds hand freezes and time-setting becomes precise rather than approximate. Wind the crown, set the hand, push it back in: the wheel releases and the watch restarts from exactly where it was told to. The power reserve runs to approximately 72 hours, meaning a watch left on a Friday evening will still be running Monday morning. Accuracy sits within plus 25 to minus 15 seconds per day, the standard Seiko specifies for this calibre.
The case back is see-through and screwed down, so the movement is visible without the watch losing its 10-bar water resistance. The stainless steel case carries a super hard coating, and the dual-curved sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective treatment on its inner surface, which reduces the ghost reflections that flat coatings can miss. Magnetic resistance is rated to 4,800 A/m, enough to handle everyday exposure to phones and bag clasps. The deployment clasp closes with a push-button release rather than a fold-over buckle, which distributes the bracelet load more evenly across the wrist. Lug-to-lug distance is 43.8mm.
