A small rechargeable lamp you carry from room to room. Pierre Charpin designed the PC Portable for HAY in 2019, a plastic body with a matte finish and a soft, rounded shape that sits on a desk, a dinner table or a garden wall.
It charges over USB-C and runs for around ten hours. The light dims, and the shade can throw it downward for reading or spread it for a room. It is rated IP44, so it copes with damp and the odd splash outdoors.
The version sold today, sometimes called the PC Portable No. 2, uses recycled plastic for the body and shade. In the US it is stocked by Herman Miller; elsewhere it comes from HAY directly.
