About
The Flos Taccia table lamp is a 1962 design by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni that refuses to settle for invisibility. Its inverted silhouette, with the reflector suspended above the base like a mushroom cap, creates a distinctive profile that reads as sculpture first, light source second. The hand-blown transparent glass diffuser sits at the center, directable by hand to adjust where light actually falls.
The engineering underneath matters as much as the form. A concave spun aluminum reflector with a gloss white exterior and matte white interior creates soft, diffused light that bounces both upward and down, rather than the harsh directional glow most task lamps produce. A dimmer switch on the cord lets you dial brightness, which means the lamp adapts to morning coffee or evening reading without requiring a separate fixture.
This is a table lamp for people who notice how light feels in a room. It works equally well beside a sofa, on a desk, or in a corner where ambient light needs softening.
