About
The Timemore C5 grinds with a 42mm seven-blade conical burr, the S2C-042-III, which replaces the 38mm burrs used in the C3.
Timemore says the new burr is 19% larger than the C3's and has a 16.23% longer grinding path. A longer path gives each bean more burr to travel across before it drops into the catch cup. The C5 also comes in two versions that differ in how finely they adjust. The C5 Pro moves 0.031 mm per click across 48 settings, and one full rotation covers the whole range. The C5 Esp Pro moves 0.015 mm per click across 50 settings, and it takes three rotations to cover them all. Its finest setting is 4, against 3 on the Pro.
Zero is not really zero. A 3-click buffer acts as the practical starting point, so the burrs are protected if someone winds the dial all the way in by accident.
The unibody is stainless steel and aluminium, and Timemore describes it as not flexing under load. A flared XL inlet makes dosing easier, a silicone base stops the grinder sliding about, and the handle pulls out to fold away. The box holds the grinder, a cleaning brush and a manual. Small, solid, and built around one larger burr.
