About
The Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ keyboard, model K980, charges from sunlight and from ordinary indoor lamps alike. A light-absorbent strip above the keys feeds the battery, so there is no cable to plug in and no pair of AA cells to swap.
Logitech calls the system Logi LightCharge. The strip converts light into stored power, and that store can be kept for up to four months, which means a few weeks of a dark desk or a drawer does not leave the keyboard flat. The battery behind it is rated for up to 10 years. Most wireless keyboards wear out their batteries long before their keys, but here the two are meant to age at a similar pace: the switches are designed to last 10 million keystrokes.
Three devices can be paired at once, and Easy Switch moves between them from the keyboard. Logi Options+ adds Smart Actions, which let one keystroke run a repetitive sequence of tasks.
The materials are specific. The casing uses recycled plastic. The aluminium in the inner plate is made with renewable energy instead of fossil fuels. It comes in Graphite.
The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 pairs a light-powered strip with a battery rated for up to 10 years, so the keyboard needs neither a charging cable nor replacement cells.
