Norma is a 70mm stainless steel disc that uses NFC to instantly block distracting apps and silence their notifications when you tap your iPhone against it. No battery, no subscription, no software running in the background. Just a scan to go quiet, and another to come back.
The build quality is what stands out first. At 270 grams of solid stainless steel with laser engraving, it feels closer to a desk object than a tech accessory. There’s an optional magnetic base that holds the disc upright, which turns the whole thing into something you’d actually want visible on your workspace. Setup takes about two minutes through the companion app, where you choose exactly which apps get paused. You can create different focus profiles and switch between them from the home screen.
What makes it click is the physicality. Putting your phone down on a metal disc is a deliberate act, and that small ritual changes how the moment feels compared to toggling a software switch you’ll just undo thirty seconds later.
