About
The ChargeKey was first released in 2013, and the V2 is the version that raises its limits to 240 watts of power and 10Gbps of data. It is a USB-C to USB-C cable short enough to live on a keyring.
Most of what sets it apart is in the housings. Each end of the cable is electroplated and carries integrated magnets, so the two ends close onto each other and the cable forms a compact loop rather than a loose strand of wire. Opened up, it is an ordinary two-ended cable with a braided nylon sheath, and the tips have a satin finish from the plating.
The numbers are the part a short keyring cable does not usually offer. Nomad says it can fast charge devices at up to 240W, and it names the iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and Android devices as examples. Data moves at up to 10Gbps, which is the USB 3.1 standard. A cable this small is easy to assume is charge-only, and that assumption would be wrong here, because the same cable carries files at that speed.
The Nomad ChargeKey V2 is a USB-C to USB-C cable with magnetic housings that supports charging at up to 240W and data transfer at up to 10Gbps.
It is listed in Silver, Stellar Orange and Carbide. Twelve years of periodic updates have left it as a cable that still fits on a keyring and now carries the full power budget of a laptop charger.
