About
A purifier small enough for a bedside table usually has to trade airflow against noise. Dyson's answer on the HushJet Purifier Compact is to send its clean air straight up, as one concentrated vertical jet, and let that jet pull the rest of the room along behind it.
The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact entrains the air around its nozzle: as the high-speed jet leaves the top, it drags surrounding air with it, which Dyson compares to the concentrator on a hair dryer. The compressor underneath draws in up to 70 litres of air a second at maximum, for a clean air delivery rate of 250 cubic metres an hour. The star-shaped nozzle, inspired by jet engine design, reduces turbulence and attenuates the sound waves coming off that compressor. It twists off for cleaning.
Filtration happens in two 360-degree layers. The electrostatic filter uses porous, charged media that captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, and because it has lower resistance than glass or PTFE filters and resists clogging, Dyson engineers it to hold its performance for five years. Behind it, activated carbon removes pet and cooking odours and gases such as NO₂. Dyson seals the whole machine, not only the filters, so captured pollutants cannot leak back into the room.
In Auto mode, particle sensing detects PM2.5 and adapts the airflow, purifying only when air quality drops. The LCD screen and the MyDyson app both show air quality and remaining filter life, and the app adds ten airflow speeds, schedules, a sleep timer and voice control.
