Most portable speakers fake stereo by spacing two drivers apart and calling the gap between them a soundstage. The Kilburn III takes a different approach.
Marshall's True Stereophonic system uses a stereo arrangement with wide-band drivers to deliver 360-degree sound with no blind spots, meaning the stereo image holds regardless of where a listener is standing relative to the speaker. That is a mechanical consequence of the driver configuration, not a processing trick applied after the fact. The bass, mids, and treble also adjust automatically as volume changes, so the tonal balance at low levels stays consistent with what it sounds like loud, rather than thinning out at the top or losing body at the bottom.
Control is split between physical knobs for bass and treble, a power and track-control knob, and an M-button that calls up saved audio presets directly. The Kilburn III connects to two devices simultaneously and holds the pairing information for up to eight previously paired devices, so switching sources does not require going back through a Bluetooth menu each time.
The velvet-lined carrying strap attaches and detaches via guitar strap buttons, which means it can be swapped or removed without tools. A power output connector on the speaker lets it charge a phone from its own battery. The Kilburn III is IP54-rated, covering water splashes from any direction, a fact already listed in the details panel but worth understanding as the reason the strap and outdoor use make practical sense together.
