Most turntables force a choice: go wired for quality, or go wireless for convenience. The Sony PS-LX5BT does not ask for that trade-off.
The wireless side runs on Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, which carries audio at up to 96kHz/24bit over Bluetooth. That is a higher ceiling than standard aptX, and it matters because the moving magnet cartridge is precise enough to be worth the bandwidth, operating at a stylus pressure of 2.0±0.5g. The die-cast aluminium platter and aluminium tonearm are both part of a vibration control design, and the rubber slip mat beneath the record adds another layer of damping so that motor noise and surface resonance do not travel upward into the groove. For listeners who prefer a cable, the built-in phono equaliser includes a PHONO/LINE switch, and gold-plated audio jacks with detachable cables are included in the box.
The fully automatic operation means the tonearm lifts, travels to the lead-in groove, and returns to its rest at the end of a side without any manual intervention. Auto start, stop, and return functions handle the whole sequence. That level of automation is more common on entry-level decks, but here it sits alongside a specification that includes aptX Adaptive wireless, which is rare at any price point in the turntable category.
The transparent hinged dust cover keeps the platter visible when the deck is not in use, which means the die-cast aluminium platter is on display rather than hidden.
