The Thermakind ceramic coating is the meaningful upgrade in this version. PTFE-free and PFAS-free, it sits on a cast aluminum body built from 100% certified post-consumer recycled aluminum, which is a quieter material story than most brands bother to tell. The coating handles the transition from stovetop to a 450-degree oven without complaint, and the borosilicate glass lid traps steam evenly enough that braising and steaming produce results that feel deliberate rather than approximate. A built-in spoon rest on the handle is the kind of small, obvious-in-retrospect detail that makes daily cooking marginally less chaotic, which is where most kitchen friction actually lives.
At 2.6 quarts and 2.8 inches deep, the pan occupies a proportional middle that suits weeknight cooking without excess. The mesh steamer basket fits inside the same vessel used to sear or sauté, which means fewer items pulled from the cabinet per meal.
